White Trash

White Trash Snack mix-a little sweet, a little salty, a lot of yum!

White Trash Snack mix-a little sweet, a little salty, a lot of yum!

OK, I know what you’re all thinking.

That’s not a very nice thing to say.

Well I didn’t say it first.

I’ve been making this stuff forever and when we moved to Georgia, hubby took some of this stuff to work and that’s what everyone there called it.

White Trash Snack mix-a little sweet, a little salty, a lot of yum!

So I’m just repeating them. And so do my kids now.

Sorry.

But it’s good stuff.

And it makes sense to call this stuff trash since you basically throw everything in it, just like the trash.

I mean all that leftover, hanging around the house, maybe not enough to fill a snack bowl kinda stuff.

The only thing you have to have is some candy bark or candy melts

White Trash Snack mix-a little sweet, a little salty, a lot of yum!

You know candy coating. call it whatever you want. It’s what brings it all together.

I stock up on this stuff. I pick it up whenever it’s on sale. It last for years, or so I’ve been told. It never lasts that long around here.

So you’ve got your candy coating, now go forage around your kitchen. You want some sweet and some salty stuff.

Cereal, pretzels, hard chips like Fritos or Bugles, peanuts, whatever you can find.

And for the sweet, I don’t care how much you bake, we all love Oreos. But you could use nilla wafers or whatever else you have laying around but you do want some cookies in this.

And also some candy, like M & Ms or candy corn, you know you have some stashed away.

White Trash Snack mix-a little sweet, a little salty, a lot of yum!

Move your stuff around a bit with a plastic spoon,  Add in your small items, And walk away until chocolate is set.

Once set, break apart, package up as gifts in a jar or just using the plastic party bags from the Dollar store.

A pretty ribbon can make all the difference.

@Mary, thank you for your kind words, you made my week. I’m a visual person so I need lots of pictures myself to make sure I understand!

@Sallie, don’t you know, if it’s homemade, the calories don’t count!

@Ann, that’s why we love this, add a little chocolate to almost anything and it become fresh and delicious again!

@Jenna, what do you put in yours? is there a post for it? would love to see!

Whatever it’s called, that stuff sounds wonderful. I would have a hard time controlling myself around a bowl full of such yummies.

This is so bad…….but good! I found this on Facebook via Incredible Recipes! I have a similar recipe, but I like how you suggest just adding whatever to it, especially the cookie part. The rest of your site looks phenomenal…I think I could gain 10 pounds just looking at it!

How far in advance can I make these and stay fresh? I have a party in a week and wondered if this was something you can make this early or something that you make the day before!
    Thank you

White trash is always best fresh, just like potato chips but this will keep up to a week if stored in an airtight container.
