So simple and easy to make. Not to mention fast. No waiting around for the oven. Instant (almost) gratification. And cheap to make. Just a little of this, a little of that.
I was undecided about posting this one. I told you at the beginning, we tried about 10 different mug cake recipes. Not all of them were good. The kids and I didn’t really care for this one, at least not as much as some of the others, but my mom loved this one. This was her favorite. Everyone’s tastes are different.
And it’s only 3 ingredients, a few minutes to make and bake. Then dig in.
Some mug cakes are like pizza, everyone has their favorites and everyone usually likes something different. So try it. This one may be your favorite.

UM hello gooey deliciousness!
They look droolworthy!
Another great one. I could eat it every day.
Great mug cake. I found you via the Real Housewives of Riverton Recipe Round up. I linked in a post about a retro dish called Coronation Chicken. Have a lovely week.
Love your blog and the recipes you post! ๐
Wow! I can’t believe those three ingredients turn into a gooey chocolate cake! They look great.
I don’t make cakes often, because my little family won’t eat the whole thing & I end up eating most of it. Although I love the convenience of boxed cake mixes, the cakes are just too big. I would be interested in finding a recipe to buy a boxed cake mix, divide it into smaller portions, bag them & freeze them, & then pull one out at a time to mix with a couple other ingredients & make a mug cake. Do you know how to do this?

So fun and easy. My little baker will love this recipe.
Lucky to be one of your taste testers. ๐
Delicious! I added in about 1 T. marshmallow fluff after heating. Very tasty.
Just made this, it was absolutely DELICIOUS! A little on the eggy side but other wise they were wonderful! Thankyou for sharing!
So glad you liked it Olivia, you should also try the Nutella Mug Cake!
I’d like to know WHY your mom liked this one best, and why you preferred another recipe? Was this one more or less cake-like? Gooey-er? fudgier? More or less chocolatey? Details please!
and which one was YOUR favorite???
I made this gooey chocolate mug cake I did what the recipe said and it was dry dense and no gooeyness at all I cooked it for 50 seconds. Please help me what did I do wrong I made this for my husband and my daughter cause we are watching calories and it’s 210 cal. It made one mug. Thank you
It sounds like maybe your microwave cooks high and you might want to reduce the time a bit. Also, did you use a large egg?
would hot chocolate mix work?
you could try it
Loved this recipe Joan! It cured that chocolate craving, and I had less than 5 minutes in the kitchen! Perfect dessert for the night I wanted to relax ๐
The recipe is so easy to make but I did over cook it just a bit. It still roasted great!
Using the microwave is an awful idea – radiation, killing nutrients in food and all that. In fact, we got rid of ours years ago. How about baking this in the oven? Would 20 minutes at 350 work, you think?
If baking in the oven, I’d check it at about 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Make sure the mug you are using is oven safe.
You don’t state the size of the egg, must it be a large, extra large or jumbo size egg?
I always use large eggs but use what you have on hand.
