Gooey Chocolate Mug Cake-3 Ingredients

Gooey Chocolate Mug Cake-3 ingredients and just a few minutes to chocolate gratification!

Gooey Chocolate Mug Cake-3 ingredients and just a few minutes to chocolate gratification!

We’re on Mug Cake week.

So simple and easy to make. Not to mention fast. No waiting around for the oven. Instant (almost) gratification. And cheap to make. Just a little of this, a little of that.

I was undecided about posting this one. I told you at the beginning, we tried about 10 different mug cake recipes. Not all of them were good. The kids and I didn’t really care for this one, at least not as much as some of the others, but my mom loved this one. This was her favorite. Everyone’s tastes are different.

And it’s only 3 ingredients, a few minutes to make and bake. Then dig in.

Some mug cakes are like pizza, everyone has their favorites and everyone usually likes something different. So try it. This one may be your favorite.

I don’t make cakes often, because my little family won’t eat the whole thing & I end up eating most of it. Although I love the convenience of boxed cake mixes, the cakes are just too big. I would be interested in finding a recipe to buy a boxed cake mix, divide it into smaller portions, bag them & freeze them, & then pull one out at a time to mix with a couple other ingredients & make a mug cake. Do you know how to do this?

I’d like to know WHY your mom liked this one best, and why you preferred another recipe? Was this one more or less cake-like? Gooey-er? fudgier? More or less chocolatey? Details please!

and which one was YOUR favorite???

It sounds like maybe your microwave cooks high and you might want to reduce the time a bit. Also, did you use a large egg?

The recipe is so easy to make but I did over cook it just a bit. It still roasted great!

Using the microwave is an awful idea – radiation, killing nutrients in food and all that. In fact, we got rid of ours years ago. How about baking this in the oven? Would 20 minutes at 350 work, you think?

    • Joan Hayes says

      August 2, 2014 at 11:42 pm

If baking in the oven, I’d check it at about 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Make sure the mug you are using is oven safe.

You don’t state the size of the egg, must it be a large, extra large or jumbo size egg?

    • Joan Hayes says

      July 30, 2015 at 10:43 pm

I always use large eggs but use what you have on hand.
