Oreo Cookies and Cream Bundt Cake-a fun cake that's easy to make!

Let me tell you right off the bat, this cake is not my idea. I created this recipe but I was totally inspired by this Oreo Cake from Amanda at I am Baker.

If you follow me on facebook, I’m always sharing amazing creations from other bloggers. I was short on time the other day. I asked a few of my friends to give me a favorite treat to share.

I think Amanda’s figured out that I’m not a decorated cake maker. I love when she shares a “sloppy cake.” Something with the icing just sort of smeared on, not perfect, but still looks so incredible, I want to lick my computer screen. I could probably make a “pretty” cake if I took the time. I just never take the time. I love a cake I can decorate in 10 minutes or less. After all, it’s how a cake tastes in the end. The prettiest site of all is the empty cake plate in the sink, knowing every bite was enjoyed.

Amanda doesn’t only makes her cakes gorgeous on the outside. (She’s the creator of the original Rose Cake!) She’s also known for the cake itself! She goes beyond just a simple layer cake and she’ll create amazing surprises to find when you cut into the cake.

I’m so excited for her. She’s been working on this project for years. Putting together photo tutorials for her first book!

It’s available for pre-order now on Amazon.  I can’t wait to get my copy!

In the meantime, Amanda’s Oreo Cake kept haunting me. It didn’t help that Publix had Oreos on sale, buy one get one free. You know I’m not going to pass that one up.

I completely cheated making this cake. Boxed cake mix, canned frosting. You can certainly make both from scratch if you choose. I just knew I had to put Oreos in a cake and I had to do it fast.

Oreo Cookies and Cream Bundt Cake

Oreo Cookies and Cream Bundt Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • ingredients called for on box to make cake
  • 3 cups broken Oreo cookies
  • 1 can white frosting
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies

Instructions

  1. Prepare cake batter according to directions on the box. Fold in Broken Oreo pieces. I just broke my cookies into quarters.
  2. Pour batter into well greased bundt pan and bake according to box mix directions.
  3. Remove baked cake from oven and let cool in pan for 30 minutes before turning out onto wire rack to cool completely.
  4. To decorate your cake. Place frosting in a microwaveable bowl. Heat in microwave for 20-30 seconds, just until sides of icing start to melt. Stir icing to smooth. You want your icing pourable but not runny. If your icing is too thin, just let it cool a bit before using.
  5. Pour melted icing over top of your cake, gently spreading for best coverage. Let icing drip down sides.
  6. Before icing is cooled, spread crushed Oreos on top of iced cake. Let icing set completely before serving.
