Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Bark

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Bark-sure to satisfy the chocolate and peanut butter lover.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Bark-sure to satisfy and chocolate and peanut butter lover.

I wasn’t going to post this bark. It’s good, I mean really good. And so easy to make. But I just had other plans for today’s post.

Then I got distracted.

I started watching the Thomas Crown Affair…have you seen that movie? Loved it! Pierce Brosnan, I’ve always had a crush on him. Anyone else remember watching him in Remington Steele?  I love our DVR. I can record things in the middle of the night, then when the kids are off at school and the hubby is at work, I can just watch what I want, without interruption.  Well, anyway, I sat through the movie, on my bed, with all the pillows behind me, and the container of the bark on my nightstand…and well, by the time the movie was over. The container was empty. In my defense, it wasn’t full. But it’s really that good.

It was just something I threw together. You could use any candy bar, but Reese’s, common, who doesn’t love a Reese’s? Chocolate and peanut butter, best combination ever! These were the last of the “I bought a ton of Halloween candy, the day after Halloween” candy. Good thing Christmas is just a few weeks away, I’ll be able to restock my candy supply again.

The addition of the peanuts, gave this bark a little crunch and just the right amount of salty to complement the peanut butter and chocolate.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Bark

Ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate candy coating (almond bark or candy melts)
  • 1 bag Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (14-18 snack size cups)
  • 1-2 cups dry roasted peanuts
  • 1-2 teaspoons shortening (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Place Peanut Butter cups in freezer for about 30 minutes.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment or waxed paper, set aside.
  3. Melt chocolate according to package directions or my personal favorite, in a small crock pot.
  4. Remove peanut butter cups from freezer and chop into large pieces. Return to freezer until ready to use.
  5. Once chocolate is melted and smooth stir in peanut butter cups and peanuts, just to coat. If chocolate seems a little thick, you can add the shortening.
  6. Spread chocolate onto prepared pan, using a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread to the edges. Let chocolate set up then cut or break into pieces. Store in air tight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

    2. Huge Remington Steele Fan!
    3. Was SOOOO Mad at NBC when they would let him out of his contract to play bond and we had to suffer through Timothy Dalton, whom I love in Shakespeare but not so much as Bond.
    4. Can I have some of that Bark?

    • Rebecca Bird says:

I know this is an old post, but I can’t let a mention of Pierce Brosnan go unanswered. When Remington Steele was on television, it, for some odd reason, was on late at night rather than prime time in our area. I totally fell head over heels for Pierce Brosnan and Remington Steele and felt like he was my little secret. Years later, I ran across the first season in a Blockbuster store. I rented them to show my children and partially convince myself how silly I was. Wrong! I fell back in love with him and the show. Now my children all love Remington Steele and I bought every season.(Something I don’t tend to do.) My 18 year old daughter just requested them to watch while she recovered from her wisdom teeth removal. We’re back on them again!

  35. Joooooaaannn!! You are killing me here! How could I NOT make this recipe? How could I not sit in front of the TV watching a Pierce Brosnan movie and eat the whole batch? At least I’ll have you to blame ;) Pinned and featuring tomorrow. Thank you {sort of} for sharing at Mom On Timeout!

  42. Ha! I always had a crush on Pierce Brosnan too! :) I’m a sucker for all things peanut butter! This bark is going on my list of things I must make this fall! Pinning and sharing on my Facebook page tomorrow! :)

  43. All my PB and Chocolate dreams just came true!!! This is awesome, Joan!

I LOVE that movie! Haven’t seen it in a loooong time.

  44. Make it even better: Line a baking sheet with graham crackers, cover with a mixture of butter, brown and white sugar (1 lb butter 1/4 cup each sugar – melt and bring to a boil then let simmer for 4 mins over low heat – THEN pour over graham crackers). Bake at 350 for 11 mins, remove from oven and pour your chocolate peanut butter mixture over it…shove in the fridge for 2 hours. Best thing you’ll ever taste – I also make with white chocolate and butterfingers. My friends call it crack.

  45. Do you happen to know the cups equivalent for the chopped peanut butter cups? I have a bag of prechopped peanut butter cups. Thanks! These look so yummy! I loves reeses peanut butter cups!!!
