Hershey’s Cocoa, Hershey’s Syrup and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Candy Bars all come together to make this the Ultimate Triple Chocolate Hershey Pound Cake!
School started back today. I no longer have a child in the Elementary School. Just the Middle and now 2 in High School. My babies are growing up.
Here’s how the day went. I wake up at 5am. I smell the coffee brewing (thank goodness for those built in timers on coffee makers!) Open the bedroom door to see my son already showered and ready. This day is starting off really well. Number 2 child is in the shower and just a few minutes later I’m hearing #3 child’s alarm clock go off. Everyone is awake and smiling. The older 2 are out the door at 5:40am. Youngest is off to catch the bus at 6:20am. I’m checking facebook at 6:30 am and I realize, my house is quiet!
Now this could be the end of the story but I have to run up to the high school to check on #1 son’s schedule. I pop out the door at 6:50am get there by 7:10 (school starts at 7:15) And yes, I could have driven the older 2 kids but I wanted to make sure the bus knew to stop for them and if you miss that first day on the bus, a lot of times the driver might think those kids won’t be riding.
I’m back home before 8am. And so begins our school year.
The best part of the day? As each child came through the door “Mom, I’m home!” Excited to tell me all about their day, the other kids, the teachers. Still smiling. It’s going to be a good year.
I love Chocolate. It’s no secret. When I came across a recipe in an old church cookbook, melting chocolate bars into chocolate syrup, I knew I was onto something. After some tweaking and the addition of some cocoa, this cake tastes just like biting into a Hershey’s Candy bar.

It’s been one of those days – I could use the entire thing……….actually, I will be in a car with 3 people for nearly 11 hours over the next two days and all are between 75 and 81 years old. I ‘ll take a second one for the road! ๐ Looks delicious!

Similar family recipe that goes back to the 50’s. 6 hershey bars, 1 can Hershey’s chocolate, no cocoa. I think that is the biggest difference. This cake has been demanded by kids returning from college, soldiers returning from deployment. We actually sent a couple to Iraq and Afghanistan.
So moist you have to use an old tube pan so you can “cut” it out of the pan.
Glad to see this being passed along!
Joan Hayes says
Thanks Jackie and thanks for the tip about shipping it, I hope my SNL is done with deployment but if not, I can include this in his care package.

The Triple Chocolate Hershey Cake looks very delicious and moist. The recipes calls for Hershey Syrup. Did you use the one in the can or in the bottle?
Joan Hayes says
Hi Sue, I use the bottle, unless I can find a reason to use a whole can, it’s always the bottle. I don’t like saving syrup in the can once it’s been opened.

This sounds lovely! Think I might try to send one to my daughter – was thinking about trying to bake it in a couple of loaf pans to make it easier to mail. Also wondering if including some peanut butter chips might add another layer of delicious…..

This cake looks absolutely delicious!! My son loves Hershey bars and I can’t wait to make this for him. I usually do my baking during the day while everyone is gone. Keeps me busy. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who has to get up at 5am. The bus collects my child at about the same time my husband leaves for work. Which is around 10 til 6. Then I’m left all alone. Well, not totally alone. I do have the dog to keep me company. ๐

This sounds amazing! I really want to make this right now! All I have is Ghirardelli bars with toasted coconut …I may take that challenge! LOL

Sounds so yummy! I don’t have any buttermilk..can I use regular milk? Thank you.
Joan Hayes says
you can make your own butter milk-1 cup milk minus 2 tablespoons then add 2 tablespoons fo either white vinegar or lemon juice, stir and then let sit for 5-10 minutes until it thickens just a bit. Hope this helps.
Maria says
Are Hershey’s bars just just chocolate milk bars or candy bars?
Joan Hayes says
Hershey bars are a Milk Chocolate Candy Bar.

i made this cake last night. The only complaint I have is that my cake’s outer layer is on the verge of a burnt taste/texture. I had to turn the oven down a bit at the 40 minute mark and it was done about 20 minutes early. It’s like the outer layer is like a hard crust. It doesn’t taste horrible but its not the pound cake texture I expected. Now the inside is just glorious. It’s actually not as sweet as I thought it might be. I’ll definitely make it again.
