Chocolate Oreo Cookie Fruit Dip-A great way to enjoy fruit, perfect for a party or just a snack!

How do I say this.  I guess it’s like pulling off a band-aid. You just have to be quick about it.

Sometimes I make foods, saying I’m making them for the kids when it’s really me that wants the food. There I said it. I hide behind my kids eating habits so I can enjoy it too.

A friend mentioned going to a cheese shop and having Chocolate Cheese. After that, I couldn’t get the idea out of my mind.  in fact, I went home and starting looking through the kitchen to see what I can whip up.

This ended up being too easy. I always have a few bars of cream cheese on hand ( I swear I could eat it all day long.)  As for chocolate, should I go with cocoa, chips, milk chocolate,  dark chocolate.  I even gave the white chocolate chips a second glance.

But then I saw the Oreos. Hidden back behind the crackers. Where I thought the kids wouldn’t find them.

Yeah, right. They’re Oreos. You know how Oreos changed their packaging a while back. With the pull back top that reseals, and if you reseal it carefully, it’s really hard to detect that the package has been opened?

I don’t know why I bother trying to hide the good stuff from the kids. They have a sixth sense when it comes to Oreos.  Just 6 lonely cookies left in the package. I swear the package was unopened the last time I saw it.  At least it was enough to make this dip. And have one or two for Mama to nibble on.

And I thought Oreos disappeared fast in my house.  I admit, I might have been the one to get out the spoon.

  1. I look forward to someday hiding behind my children as an excuse to eat yummy things. LIKE OMG THIS DIP!

  2. Sooooo if I eat fruit with that, it totally cancels out the calories of the Oreos, right :D

  3. I read this and was laughing so hard because when I found those Lemon Oreo’s I “tried” to hide them from the girls until I made something with them with no luck. I think I purchased 3 packages before I created my recipe and hid them in a really high cabinet too. I love this recipe Joan and never thought of using the base for a truffle asics dip…Fantastic!

    • I’m glad to know I’m not alone. I’ve tried hiding things in my closet but then I forget about them, lol. I’d rather have to buy more than let something go stale!

  4. Oh my gawd. STOP it with this deliciousness!!! Seriously, I’ve had fruit dip, but this? This sounds way too yummy. Cant wait to try! Definitely pinning.

  5. This looks amazing Joan! If it makes you feel any better, 99% of the reason I blog is so that I can make baked goods “for the blog” and lick the batter from the bowl :) Pinning!

  6. Half the reason I can’t wait to have kids is so I can say “ooh but little Wesley is SUCH a picky eater. So we don’t eat much”. I will totally use the kids as an excuse to eat yummy things like this. (and go to fun museums that let you touch everything)
And with all the fruit, it’s totally healthy, of course.

  7. Oh my! Mr. Picky Eater – who is a huge double stuff fan – would love this and I look at this way: Look at the fruit you are eating! :)

  8. Great idea! Knowing me, though, I’d totally just dip the rest of the Oreos in the pack into the dip ;-)

  9. Wow! This looks deee-licious! We’d love to have you share the recipe at our Saturday Link Party! Deb @ madefrompinterest.net

  10. Love Oreos, would never have thought of making a dip with them! Thanks for the recipe.

OMG. I have been addicted to Oreos for decades. Now they can be a “healthy” food. That’ll be my story and I will stick to it. Thanks for sharing!
