Orange Creamsicles-Orange juice and Ice Cream-perfect for cooling off on a hot day!
It only took 5 years and a basketball net. We are now the house that all the kids come to play at. And I love it! I’ve always said that I would rather have kids coming in and out, making a mess, being loud, laughing, having a good time at our house then at someone else’s home. Every neighborhood seems to get one of these houses. I’m happy to have it be mine.
We really lucked out (finally) with neighbors that have kids on both sides of us. And the kids all sort of match up in age to my kids.
It just sort of happened. I think it started when we had our snow this winter. We have a great driveway for “sledding” on, if that’s what you want to call it. Living in the south, we don’t own sleds so we were using big container lids, skim boards and metal trays (those worked really well!) Anyway, the kids and I were out there, having a blast and more just came along.
Then it warmed back up, and suddenly, everyone noticed that we have a basketball net. We’ve had it for 4 or 5 years now. It was one of those family presents we thought would get everyone outside and playing together. It didn’t really happen that way. Playing is so much more fun when you have lots of kids to play with.
Now, almost every day after school, we’ll have 5-8 kids out there, playing basketball or Knock out. For the most part, they all get along. My kids come in, finally, when I call for dinner.
They play hard when they’re all out there, running around, constantly on the move. As the weather continues to warm up, they’ll be looking for ways to cool down.
These kids have also turned into my taste testers. When I took these popsicles out to them, they disappeared fast. Of course they would. They’re kids. The true testament was days later, when the kids were still talking about these popsicles. Not about the cake or the cookies they’ve also enjoyed, but these simple 2 ingredient popsicles.
Vanilla and Orange. Frozen together. And so much better for them than most store bought popsicles.

Orange Creamsicles

- 1 cup vanilla ice cream
- popsicle mold
Instructions
- Using a regular teaspoon, Spoon ice cream loosely into popsicle molds. Dividing equally. Do not pack ice cream down. Fill popsicle molds with orange juice to the top. Add popsicle sticks. Freeze for 4-5 hours until completely frozen.
Notes
depending on the size of your popsicle molds, you may need more or less of your ingredients. My molds were small, yielding 2 ounce popsicles
