This triple frosted peanut butter cup sheet cake is so rich and satisfying because when you put peanut butter and chocolate together, you can’t go wrong.
The three layers of peanut butter and chocolate frostings on this cake are amazing.
Hi everyone. My name is Karen and I was close friends with Joan for many years. We raised our kids together in the same small town.
We would often talk about recipes which was our passion. Joan would bring me samples of her baking adventures and they were always amazing.
Well, my son will be coming home from college for the holidays soon so I was trying to think of something new to make that he wouldn’t be able to resist. He says that he has lost his sweet tooth at college.
How is that possible? (Let’s just say instead that his tastes are changing as he matures.) Giving up sweets would never be possible for me, especially peanut butter and chocolate.
While I was unwrapping the peanut butter cups, my daughter and husband were eating them as soon as they hit the plate. Peanut butter cups have always been one of my favorites, so I sneaked a couple, too.
Baking from scratch is great, but I just don’t always have the time. You can get the same feel by using prepared mixes but tweaking them a little to taste more like homemade.
First, I baked a chocolate box cake mix substituting milk instead of water and melted butter instead of oil.
Then I made a peanut butter glaze frosting to keep the top of the cake moist. Next I added a melted layer of chocolate frosting which was way too easy.
Last but not least a layer of peanut butter whipped topping covered with peanut butter cups.
I must say that the top layer of peanut butter was my favorite part.
I have been craving salty foods lately so the peanut butter was perfect for that. When you add salty to sweet then I am in heaven.
My family loved it and said that I will definitely have to make triple frosted peanut butter cup sheet cake again. Maybe we will have it for our family Christmas party. The little ones should go crazy for it.

Notes
I don't follow the exact directions on the box of cake mix. I use milk instead of water and melted butter instead of oil.
If the peanut butter glaze layer is too think just add a little more cream.
