Sausage Ball Puffs-perfect for parties, make ahead and freeze them for a quick, easy appetizer
You know the saying “you can’t pick your family….” well I got really lucky.
This is my mom’s younger sister and she’s always been the cool mom/aunt. She’s influenced me in ways she’ll never know (although I have told her about a few things.)
We had a wonderful visit and of course I have to share with you some of the food we had.
These sausage Balls are wonderful. And my Aunt had them in the freezer just waiting to be baked and served. They disappeared fast. I had to make some. I’ve now made these 4 times since our visit and every time, they disappear in 5 minutes. And I love that I can pull out just a few, for lunch and pop them in the toaster oven. So much better than a sandwich.
Sausage Ball Puffs
from Kitty Roberson
Sausage Ball Puffs
Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups Bisquick
- 1 pound hot sausage
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4-1 cup water
Instructions
- Work all ingredients together in a large bowl, adding just enough of the water to make dough moist but not soggy.
- Form into balls about the size of a small golf ball. I know there's only one size golf ball but work with me.
- Place balls on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.
Notes
If freezing-Place on a wax paper lined tray and place in freezer for about an hour. Transfer balls to freezer bag and place back in freezer until ready to bake. Increase baking time to 30 minutes if cooking frozen.

I made one bag with added chopped green onions and the onion just made the flavor burst. Next time I plan to add some pecans to the mixture because this is Georgia and we like to add pecans to everything.

Joan, these sound delicious! Pinning 🙂

The sausage balls don’t last long around our house either or at a pot luck.
In mine I also add; 1/2 cup finely diced onion, 1/2 cup finely diced celery and 1/2 t. garlic powder

I cook these then freeze. I don’t add water either. Might have to try with the water. We use them for breakfast.
