Whoever said it gets easier being a parent as your kids get older, never had kids. At least that’s what I think.
Yes my kids are potty trained and they can get a drink from the fridge if they want it. No, as kids get older the demands change. These days the demands include travel to different locations. Some days they have me running all over the county. They can dress themselves, but you know, if you have girls, it now matters what they wear! No longer do I control their schedule, they control mine. And I’m ok with that. It’s part of being a mom.
I like to have everyone around the table for dinner but I don’t always have time to make a good dinner. I’m not embarrassed to say, I’ll tell everyone it’s forage night. Usually there’s 2-3 nights of leftovers in the fridge. Sometimes, we just have to raid the freezer and the pantry and see what we can find. It’s not always about what you eat but who you eat with.
These Tyson Chicken Fries will be a permanent addition to our freezer. Fast and easy to prepare. A great taste and well, they’re fun to eat. We just at them as part of a snack dinner but I can see these Chicken Fries making appearances at parties, lunch time, after school munching …
Just add your favorite dipping sauce. In my house it’s Ranch. Nothing better than homemade ranch, and with fresh herbs I cut from my herb garden, well I can tell you, there is nothing that does more for the flavor of food than fresh herbs.

Yes, you are totally right, parenting get s harder, in very different ways. I always say that when the children are young it’s quite black and white; you set the guidelines, let them clearly know what happens when they cross over the guidelines, then you you consistently enforce, hard by easy. When they get older the borders are not so black and white anymore and you realize that you’ve become quite controlling only you can’t control anymore. I stayed on my knees a lot when my kids went through their teen years. it helps, a lot!
I’m sure this yummy dressing also helps a lot to make even a simple dinner very delicious! 🙂

I love fresh herbs. Nice to see it in a homemade ranch dip. I usually have a veggie tray when I’m entertaining and next time I’ll make your dip for it.

Renee, you’re guests will love it.

Those chicken fries would be a staple in my freezer as well! My kids love chicken with a coating. I absolutely agree that the challenges change as kids get older, but it is all part of being a parent. We always have a couple days worth of leftovers as well…..glad to know there is someone in the same boat!
Joan Hayes says
I think all kids like easy chicken, lol. I have to admit while my kids can be a challenge, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

We do the same thing and dig in the fridge and pantry to see what there is and clean it out. There is no way I cook everyday :). Great dip!

I never make my own ranch, I need to do it – my son and husband go through lots of ranch! I only have one 8 year old, but so far it has never gotten easier as a parent! Always new problems coming up!
