The Absolute Best Crockpot Hot Chocolate – literally the best hot chocolate. Smooth, creamy, chocolatey…mmm-mmm good!
This seemed like the perfect thing to post for the holidays because it’s getting cooler out, it’s cuddle season, and well, tis’ the season!
And when I say it’s getting “cooler” out, I really mean it’s cooler than summer but it’s not cold, at least here in Georgia. Our temperature ranges from “oh it’s a little cold out!” to “oh why is it 75 degrees?”.
But no matter what temperature it is outside, there is no better time to make Hot Chocolate than at Christmas time.
This hot chocolate brought back the times when mom would be bring my siblings and I a cup and we’d all be in the living room cuddled up, watching The Grinch (my favorite).
Ingredients Needed:
1 half-gallon/8 cups of milk (can be whole, 2%, or whatever you prefer)
2 pints/4 cups of heavy whipping cream
A 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
1 tsp of mint extract (this won’t make it minty but it will give it a nice crisp flavor)
A bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
A bag of milk chocolate chips
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of cocoa powder
Set your crockpot to low heat and begin adding in the ingredients. Start with the wet ingredients first and get them combined before adding the dry ingredients.
Once the cocoa powder is added in, it will be a little difficult to mix it in because of its- hydrophobic nature (meaning it does not like water).
After all the ingredients are well combined, leave this to “cook” for about 2-3 hours. The longer you cook the creamier it gets. Make sure to stir occasionally.
This Crockpot Hot Chocolate is really the best thing I’ve ever made in the crockpot…And I use my crockpot 4-5 times a week.
Once I was done getting the pictures I needed, my family went at it like vultures and before I knew it, it was all gone.
(This was my attempt at showing how thick and creamy The Absolute Best Crockpot Hot Chocolate was but instead, I just made a mess haha).
