I was really craving pecan brownies and my sister Cassie had just told me she was craving pecan pie.
SoI got in the kitchen and started experimenting. I was really trying to go for a layer of brownie on the bottom and then the top being pecan pie.
Here’s how I made it!
Pecan Pie Brownies
For the Brownies
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup of butter, softened
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- pinch of salt
For the Pecan Pie
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup of chopped pecans
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
First, make the brownies. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Add in the butter and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Slowly add the flour mixture into the batter mixture and combine until everything is mxed together.
Bake for about 15 minutes, just until the top of the brownies is cooked. The inside of the brownies will still be raw.
For the pecan pie filling, combine the brown sugar, honey, melted butter, vanilla and salt together in a mixing bowl. Fold in the chopped pecans.
Gently pour the filling on to the parbaked brownies then place back in the oven for another 20 minutes.
Let cool in the pan for about 15 minutes then cut into bars.
