So I’ve been thinking about doing it for a year. But it’s a lot of work. And I wasn’t sure what Color I wanted. And I couldn’t just do one room. My kitchen is connected to my dining area, my dining area is connected to the living room. The living room is connected to the entryway, the entryway is connected to the stairs (I feel like I’m singing that bone song.) And the stairs have a thousand foot ceiling.

Ok, it’s not a thousand feet but it’s about 16 feet. And it’s stairs. Not the easiest place to use a ladder.

Yes, I’m talking about painting all these rooms.

Right now I’ve got green walls in all these places. The kitchen and the dining area are one shade darker than the rest of it. And I love the color. Green is my favorite color. That dark evergreen shade. That color of leaves about a month after spring has started.  A bright lime green on a kid’s t-shirt. Even olive green has a place in my heart.

It’s time for a change. While I love the green, It’s dark and it makes the whole house dark. Duh, I know, you put a dark color on the walls and it will be dark inside.

I’ve been leaning towards a pale yellow. Then I thought about a light grey. Tidymom did grey in her home and it’s gorgeous! But I didn’t think I could pull off the all grey look.

So I kept thinking yellow. For now, I’m stuck with the furniture I have, can we say boring browns and wood tones. How would the browns and yellow go together? How would the Christmas tree look against the yellow background?

Last night I couldn’t sleep. I just kept thinking about painting. This was the perfect week to do it. The kids are gone for the week. I can have it all done before they get back. I don’t have to make dinner so if the kitchen is a shambles, it’s ok.

And I knew. I knew the exact color I wanted. A cream color with a touch of yellow. Just a touch.

I woke up early and headed straight for Lowes. I had my exact color in my hands in less than 2 minutes. (the paint chip card that is.)  I got the paint, the primer, the rollers, and lots of tape. I’m a messy painter, even though I try to stay in the lines so to speak.

I spent all day moving everything away from the walls. Then taping around the doors, around the windows, around the cabinets, floor boards, chair rails, and the ceiling. Oh, and filling all the picture holes. I’m not sure all the photos are going to go back up, lol.

I’m ready to prime tomorrow!

I shared a few before photos on Instagram, if you’re not following me, you should, this is going to be a huge project by the time I’m done.

Here’s one photo, just to tease you.

Kitchen-Before-43

Don’t you love my mixer? It never moves, so I wanted it to be pretty. I just used vinyl polka dots and stuck them everywhere!

After all my hard work, I deserved a treat. I was all set to get ice cream out of the freezer when I spied the last one of these Chocolate Yogurt Popsicles.

Rich Chocolate flavor, but healthy. You don’t even know these are made with yogurt. Now if you have kids, they won’t like the dark chocolate unless you add some extra sugar. At least mine didn’t but they loved them with semi-sweet chips. And using milk chocolate chips is amazing!

Chocolate Yogurt Popsicles

Ingredients

  • 2 cups low fat yogurt
  • 1/2-3/4 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Add about 1/2 cup of yogurt to the bowl and microwave on high for 60 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir until chocolate is completely melted and incorporated into yogurt. Let cool to room temperature.
  2. Stir chocolate into remaining yogurt. You can leave it swirled or completely combine. Spoon into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 6 hours.

Notes

You can use dark chocolate, semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips. Keep in mind, with no added sugar, the dark chocolate may be bitter to young taste buds.
