Dark Chocolate Cream Pie-don’t let the lighter color fool you, this pie has all the rich flavor of dark chocolate in a creamy, cool pie!
I have the most amazing readers/fans/followers/friends! And yes I do consider you all my friends. We share stories, we share laughter, we may even share a tear or two.
You let me babble on about this or that. You try my recipes. You leave kind comments, or you let me know when I’ve made a mistake (typo usually) but always in a constructive way. I’ve never had a harsh or rude comment that I had to delete. You don’t always like my recipes (you can’t please everyone) and that’s ok.
There have even been a few times when someone didn’t agree with a post (the story) and I’m good with that too. We’re all entitled to our own opinions. Don’t even get me started on Bananas or fresh Tomatoes, yuk to the double yuk! I know I’m the odd ball on both of those and it’s all good.
I’ve heard from other bloggers about rude commenters on their Facebook pages but it had never happened to me. I always get the occasional “yuks”, “I don’t like this”, “not for me” and my personal favorites-“This is what causes diabetes” (no, eating too much of it, too often can cause diabetes. All things in moderation.) and “I can’t have this, I’m on a diet” (but it’s still nice to look at and drool over, isn’t it?)
I let those comments stay. I know when I go shopping with my girls, we’ll find items and make comments like “love this,” “this would look so cute on you,” “I have to have this,” but we also make the comments “no way would I wear this,” “That’s a terrible color” and even the “you won’t wear that as long as your living in my house” has been said a time or two. So I understand the “yuks”.
But last weekend, The comments went beyond yuk, into a crude, perverted sexual nature. On a FOOD post! It was the “haters” come out just to ruin everyone else’s fun. I even had to look up one word (shows that I live in a sheltered world.) I immediately deleted and banned the offenders from my facebook page. I’ve also set up filters for certain words on my page. But it still bugged me. So much so that I did a PSA on my page. You can see it here but I basically said, it will not be tolerated, I’m family friendly. End of story.
The outpouring of love and support from my facebook family had me in tears. Over 900 comments and still going. I tried replying and liking to all the comments, I have read all of them, but Facebook keeps putting me in a time out for liking too much. Know that I truly, from the bottom of my heart, treasure each and every comment.
We always hear about the bad in the world, but I’m here to tell you, there is 100 times more good than bad out there. I knew it but you all proved it!
And to the haters out there, you didn’t hurt me, or my feelings. I know exactly what you are. Some lonely troll with no friends, no life, just looking to make other people as miserable as you are. I feel sorry for you and hope that one day you will grow up (even though I’m sure you are probably already of an adult age) and learn the value in creating good content, good feelings and good relationships.
So let’s chat about this pie for a few moments. This pie is all about easy. The schools have got me pegged and when Pi (Pie) day is around the corner, you get the call. I made 5 different pies for Pi day This one, was so light, so rich in flavor, and so easy to make, I just had to share it first.
I used a premade crust, you can certainly make a graham cracker or Oreo crust from scratch if you want. It comes together in about 10 minutes and it freezes well. I made it a week before Pie day, took the photos the next day and then froze it until the 14th. Just as amazing that 7th day as it was the first.

Dark Chocolate Cream Pie
Ingredients
- 1 ready made graham cracker crust
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups sweetened dark chocolate, chopped (or you can use the baking chips)
- 1/3 cup heavy cream (milk can be substituted)
- 8 ounce container of Cool Whip
Instructions
- Melt chocolate and cream in the microwave for about 45-60 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir until chocolate is completely melted, creating a chocolate ganache, if needed heat for an additional 10 seconds.
- With a mixer, cream softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together. Add chocolate ganache, reserving out about 1/4 cup for the drizzle on top of your pie, and mix again till all combined.
- Still using the mixer, on low speed, add in Cool Whip. Once combined, pour filling into crust.
- To drizzle chocolate. If chocolate has thickened, place back in microwave for 10-15 seconds to liquify. Place melted chocolate in a plastic bag and then cut a small hole in one corner of the bag. Drizzle chocolate over pie in the pattern of your choice.
- Refrigerate pie for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
this pie also freezes well, remove pie from freezer about 1 hour before serving

I made this over the weekend and it was fabulous! I used an Oreo crust and fresh whipped cream. I am going to try a white chocolate version with graham crust and maybe try butterscotch chips too… Possibilities are endless!

I was trying to make this pie and I came up with the same problem I’ve had in the past when working with adding melted chocolate. The chocolate seems to chunk up on me when it’s added to the mixing bowl.
Why? I am wondering was the chocolate not cooled enough or not warm enough?
Aside from my problem the pie filling tastes good, it just has lumps!

You do need to bring the temperature of your chocolate down. An easy way to do this, take a tablespoon or 2 of your whipped cream and stir into the chocolate, then fold the chocolate back into the remaining whipped cream.

I am a truffle maker, so I have lots of practice with ganache. 40+ years. I heat my cream on the stove just to steaming hot (not boiling) then pour over your chocolate and whisk. Make sure it is room temp before adding to pie mixture.

Looking over the recipe again, I noticed I forgot to put the heavy cream in the micro with the chocolate!
However, I have had that clumping happen before with different recipes. What could be creating it?

When heating chocolate to melt it, you need to be careful to not over cook it. Also, when creating a ganache (chocolate and milk or cream) you want to let the chocolate rest for a few minutes before stirring after heating.

I hear so much negativity in TV and the News, knowing that you receive much more nice words than negative news is good to hear. Made exactly as written – this pie is awesome! Super deep, rich chocolate flavor and very creamy texture. The cream cheese in there is really nice. Used good & gather dark chocolate chunks and they made a really awesome ganache. Would not change a thing. Served inside a pretzel pie crust that I baked for 10 minutes for a chocolate covered pretzel vibe. ๐โค๏ธ๐ ๐

I made this dark chocolate cream cheese pie last night. It will be the only chocolate cream cheese pie recipe I will be making from now on. AMAZING. I did use Karen the truffle maker’s way of melting the chocolate and cream and that worked great. Unfortunately I didn’t complete it till after 8pm so didn’t get to taste it till this morning.
