Be sure to stock up on candy canes right after Christmas so you can make these Candy Cane Hearts for Valentines Day.
I’m posting this early so you can all hit the after Christmas sales and stock up on the miniature candy canes for Valentine’s Day.
Grab a couple of boxes. I got mine 3 weeks after Christmas last year for 50 cents a box.
And Candy Cane Hearts are a fast, easy treat that will make you look like the cool mom at school.
Supplies
miniature candy canes
white candy melts or candy bark
Lollipop sticks
sprinkles
Unwrap and place candy canes on a wax paper lined cookie sheet in the shape of a heart. Place a lollipop stick down the center, making sure it’s at least 1/2 inch inside of the heart.
Place candy melts in a ziploc bag or in (you all know what I’m going to say) a plastic squeeze bottle. and carefully melt chocolate in microwave. start with 30 seconds and then do 10 second intervals. Do not let chocolate get hot. If needed, let chocolate rest for a minute or two then squeeze it around and microwave again if needed.
If using a Ziploc, cut a small hole at one of the bottom corners.
Now fill the inside of your hearts with chocolate.
Don’t worry if it looks lumpy, you’re going to put sprinkles on it and sprinkles hide everything.
Do a few hearts at a time then add your sprinkles.
Let set completely before removing and packaging as desired.
It took us longer to wrap these up than it did to make them. We used goodie bags from Wilton
and some ribbon to wrap our Candy Cane Hearts.
And I was the cool mom!
Oh and while your shopping those after Christmas sales, pick up the Christmas M & Ms
Also great for Valentine’s and St. Patty’s!
