It’s that time of week again, time for Thursday’s Treasures Link Party! Before we get to the party, I want to talk about link parties for a moment.
I know most of you link up to share what you’ve made this week and to see what everyone else has been up to. I also know that you’d like to get a little more exposure for your site.
Every now and then, I see conversations about link parties and that people don’t get traffic from linking up. And I’ll be honest with you, I don’t get a lot of direct traffic from all the link parties I participate in. But here’s why I link up. It get’s me out there. If I meet one new friend a week, it’s worth my time.
I’ve also figured out that just because I don’t see direct traffic, doesn’t mean I’m not getting traffic from linking up. If the host site features me on SM with a direct link back to my post and not routed through the party, yup, I won’t always know it came from them. Here are 2 examples of what I’m talking about
This facebook feature goes right back to the post being featured so unless you catch my feature on FB, you’ll never know I was the source of that facebook traffic
Now I could feature like this and make the reader click through the link party to get to your post but I think we both lose readers that way. Just like on pinterest, I want to get right to the original source and I think my facebook fans do too.
When I pin your post, it’s a direct pin back to you and your post.
So hopefully when you link up here, you’re getting more traffic even if you don’t know where it’s coming from. Debi, Christie and I do appreciate you coming back and linking up each week and we do our best to showcase what you share with us.
Here are the features from last week
Lemon Blossom Cookies from Hot Eats Cool Reads
Flourless Chocolate Zucchini Cake from My Lamp is Full
Pink Lemonade Donuts from Pint Sized Baker
Fabric Wrapped Choker from Jewelry Making Journal
Pork and Zucchini Pasta Ragu from Love Bakes Good Cakes
Chocolate Dulce de Leche Cookies from Beela Bakes
Greek Yogurt Pound Cake from I Heart Eating
Blueberry Tart with Pineapple from Rosemary and Thyme
If you were featured, be sure to grab a button on my side bar.

Thanks for hosting Joan! I love when people leave comments on my blog telling me that they are visiting from a linky party. Your post is a good reminder that I should leave those comments myself more often. I think people love to know where we heard about them! π

Thank you so so much for featuring me! And I love how you used my cookies to illustrate how traffic is gained. I still consider myself a newbie in the blogging world so I definitely agree that most of my traffic all comes from linking up!

I’m so glad you’re linking up, and it does get a little confusing, every link party seems to do it a little different so it’s just good to understand it. Have a great weekend!

Thanks for hosting! I’m new to the Link party here and actually can use all the traffic I can get. Have had my blog up for a little bit and now I am wanting to get serious with it.
