Thursday’s treasures Link Party 98

Published August 7, 2013

Thursday's Treasures features 080713

It’s that time of week again, time for Thursday’s Treasures Link Party! Before we get to the party, I want to talk about link parties for a moment.
I know most of you link up to share what you’ve made this week and to see what everyone else has been up to. I also know that you’d like to get a little more exposure for your site.

Every now and then, I see conversations about link parties and that people don’t get traffic from linking up. And I’ll be honest with you, I don’t get a lot of direct traffic from all the link parties I participate in. But here’s why I link up. It get’s me out there. If I meet one new friend a week, it’s worth my time.

I’ve also figured out that just because I don’t see direct traffic, doesn’t mean I’m not getting traffic from linking up. If the host site features me on SM with a direct link back to my post and not routed through the party, yup, I won’t always know it came from them. Here are 2 examples of what I’m talking about

FB feature

This facebook feature goes right back to the post being featured so unless you catch my feature on FB, you’ll never know I was the source of that facebook traffic

FB feature to party

Now I could feature like this and make the reader click through the link party to get to your post but I think we both lose readers that way. Just like on pinterest, I want to get right to the original source and I think my facebook fans do too.

When I pin your post, it’s a direct pin back to you and your post.

Pinterest pins

So hopefully when you link up here, you’re getting more traffic even if you don’t know where it’s coming from. Debi, Christie and I do appreciate you coming back and linking up each week and we do our best to showcase what you share with us.

Here are the features from last week

Pop over to Debi’s and Christie’s and see what they’ve  featured this week.
You know how parties work, there are rules.
Link up a few of your favorite recipes and/or crafts, provide a link back somewhere on your post
or on your party page, If you don’t provide the link back, we can’t feature you.
Debi has even made us buttons, you can grab one off my sidebar.
Be sure to follow my blog, facebook, pinterest, twitter, e-mail or even Google +. Whatever is your favorite way to follow to stay up to date. Be sure to do the same for my co-hosts Debi and Christie, make sure they feel some love too.
By linking up to this party you are giving permission for us to use your photo on facebook, Google+ and other social media to promote Thursday’s Treasures and you, with proper link credit given. Please make sure all photos you link up are your own. Share as many recipes/crafts as you like just as long as you haven’t shared them here before. The party is open all week. Visit a few others and leave some kind words.

About Grace

When I was younger, I was constantly in the kitchen helping my mom bake. It was fun getting to play with the flour and always getting to lick the spoon. Iโ€™ve always expressed an interest in baking and now I feel that itโ€™s the right time for me to take over. I am a college student working towards a nursing degree as well as a full-time aunt to the sweetest little kids (they might pop up in some of the posts). Iโ€™ve learned most of what I know about baking and cooking from my mom, and I am continuing to self-teach through trial and error, which means plenty of sweets to be eaten. Read more...

Thanks for hosting another great party, Joan! I also liked your explanation of link party traffic. It is definitely true, even when it seems that you are not getting traffic … that may not be the case. Have a lovely evening ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for hosting, Joan! ๐Ÿ™‚ I get most of my traffic from Pinterest pins, and I know many of those could be coming from bloggers whose parties I link up to or from people visiting the parties who pin my post. When I don’t link up to parties, I definitely see a decrease in daily page views so I KNOW that the parties help me with my blog traffic. ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree linking to parties is more than traffic. It gets me to communicate with other bloggers. I used to get a linkz listing on my stats page but I don’t anymore. Sometimes I get a listing of of site that linked too, but it is hard to track. I just think it is important to connect. Thanks for the party. I enjoy yours every week.
