It’s Thursday! OK, it’s Wednesday Night but it is time for Thursday’s Treasures. Before we get to the party, I want to share 2 things with you.
First off, have you entered this Birthday Giveaway celebrating Something Swanky’s Birthday? You could win
- a Red Kitchenaid mixer
- a $300 gift card to Target and
- 10 cookbooks written by bloggers!
So go enter and come right back.
Next. I’m sure most of your are aware that RecipeNews closed down. I was bummed. I got good traffic from them. Don’t know what Recipenews was? It was a photo sharing site for food bloggers. Similar to Food Gawker and other sites except…they accepted ALL SUBMISSIONS! Not just the ones they thought were good enough.
Well, I want to make sure you all are aware of another site that is trying (and doing a pretty good job) to fill that hole left by RN. Yumgoggle.
Yumgoggle has been around for a while but was bought about 6 months ago by a fellow Blogger. Yup, one of us. I won’t say who, that’s not my place, but I can tell you, the lady is amazing. She understands that those of us who blog about food, then take 50 photos of that same plate, at different angles, trying to get that one “good” shot, do it because we love the food. We don’t do it because we think we’re professional photographers but because we want to share that favorite recipe. And show our readers what it should look like.
Since RN closed what, a week ago I think, I’ve watched Yumgoggle step up. Check out their Facebook Page and if you dare, she’s also featuring photos on Google + oh, and they’re pinning like crazy. I love seeing comments from other bloggers that they are getting referrals from Yumgoggle. YG is one of us, and when she does good we do good.
So when you’re done linking up at your parties this week, pop over there and submit a few photos. You can submit square photos and it will crop them to the correct dimensions. This is a direct quote from the owner
“At Yum Goggle we believe that if you took the trouble to create the recipe, cook the food and photograph it, then we should show it off. We get some lesser quality photos of delicious food sometimes, of course, but we also get a lot of really great photos from some really amazing cooks.”
So let’s get to the party, here are the features from last week

I had never heard of YumGoggle (or RecipeNews, but I guess I missed that boat), but I think that is such a great concept! I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with FoodGawker, so it’s so nice to find a place to share without the judgment. Thanks for pointing me there!
Joan Hayes says
Foodgawker can be so critical. I’m about the food not the perfect photography!

Thanks for hosting! I was late tonight – talking to these to good girlfriends of mine – one is having trouble with her newest Girl Scout Badge – at least I think it was a Girl Scout Badge! ๐ xoxo
