About Grace

When I was younger, I was constantly in the kitchen helping my mom bake. It was fun getting to play with the flour and always getting to lick the spoon. I’ve always expressed an interest in baking and now I feel that it’s the right time for me to take over. I am a college student working towards a nursing degree as well as a full-time aunt to the sweetest little kids (they might pop up in some of the posts). I’ve learned most of what I know about baking and cooking from my mom, and I am continuing to self-teach through trial and error, which means plenty of sweets to be eaten. Read more...

I would make a my favorite Sweet Potato Cream Cheese Twist Buns. The buns are really soft and slightly elasticy from the well-risen dough, and creamy from the sweet potato and cream cheese, nutty from the almond flour mixed in the sweet potato/cream cheese mixture, and sweet from the sugar crystals sprinkled on top. They are soooooooooo good!

We are getting married this year and I have been dying to get one of these! In Pittsburgh it is pretty much mandatory to have a “cookie table” so being able to make all of the cookies that I will need to make with a mixer and not by hand would be a dream come true! To warm it up, the first thing I would make would be a giant, homemade, “like mama used to make” batch of mashed potatoes!

Molasses Crinkles – my favorite cookie with a very stiff dough that my hands can’t mix anymore (arthritis). (From old Betty Crocker cookbooks)

I’d choose black and the first thing I’d make is butter. It sure would beat using a hand mixer. 🙂
